CZECH NANOTECHNOLOGY AT A GLANCE

Why did the Czech Republic become a global hub of electron microscopy and nanofibers?

Following the decades of tradition in chemistry, electronics, textiles, or material science, the Czech Republic managed to transform its economy to become one of the leaders in applied nanotechnology.

R&D skills and abilities of the workforce convinced FEI Company to open the largest microscope factory in the world in the country, whereas the whole nanofiber supply chain appeared thanks to a high-yield, reliable production technology commercialized from the Czech university R&D background.

Not only could they come up with innovative nanofiber products (e.g. water & air treatment, functional textiles, bedding), other applications using nanostructures or nanoparticles offer the highest standard of anti-counterfeiting protection, air purification respectively.

  • 1/3 of all microscopes

One third of global production of electron microscopes comes from the Czech Republic

  • 80% of exports

Open economy with 80% of production exported

  • 40% of costs

Establishing R&D center in the Czech Republic costs about 40% compared to USA
